The Rare Breed Sheep Division of the IDGR-IFBR handles all herdbooks for any sheep registered with the IDGR. We are continuing to work towards expanding our herdbooks and growing our resources for fiber producers as well as those working with dairy, meat, and multipurpose sheep. Please contact us if you have any questions about registering your sheep with IDGR. Below is a list of the sheep breeds recognized by the IDGR-IFBR.
We do not currently have published breed standards for every breed listed. If you are interested in joining a committee for developing a breed standard, please contact the registrar at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
